Success Requires Self Care

Our clients have been in shock since Covid started – some are caring for children at home while also trying to work. Some are working from home without a designated office space. Some make more money on unemployment – so they are not wanting to return to work. Some will change their direction and learn a new skill set – but that will initially lower their income when they do seek new employment.

We will be navigating these unprecedented changes for years to come.

Many clients want to vent. They have a story to tell.

Two great blogs from Don Orlando and Jay Block look forward and backwards at the same time. In addition to being on parwcc.com, they are printed in the October Spotlight Magazine, you can access a copy HERE if you prefer to read them that way.
Interesting situation posed by a member on how long to allow clients to draw out the process, read more about it and reply with your thoughts below.
Historical Look at the Future of Resumes
Today everyone understands people don’t apply for jobs; they devote their efforts to being found. Said another way,  the  best  jobs  find  people.  And  so, we are naturally sympathetic to those early writers who actually inverted the process! Imagine all the difficulties of writing a résumé the job seeker would then upload, thereby severely limiting how much hiring decision makers would know about, not to mention appreciate, the applicant’s brand.

Present Clients How They Need to Be Seen
Over the years, I have encouraged job seekers that if they were to err during a video interview, relative to how best to dress for the interview, to err by overdressing rather than underdressing. Now, I suggest a more casual approach but… maintaining a professional first and lasting impression. What doesn’t change?
What doesn’t change, however, are the smiles, energy, determination, confidence, and poise job  seekers  arrive at the Zoom interview with. The open polo shirt might be casual, but one’s hair style, make-up, and full engagement must be on display and impeccable.

Member Soozy Miller asks this questions in our forums:

"I was/am working with a high-level Customer Success client who ordered several materials. He paid in advance, as all my clients do. We started with his LinkedIn profile and a networking brief so he could start reaching out to contacts and networking. The next steps were resume and cover letter when he started to get leads. He approved the LinkedIn profile and networking brief Sept. 2. I sent a reminder email on Sept 25. Do you think I still owe him the resume and cover letter whenever he asks? If not, how long should I wait before I consider the resume and cover letter dead and he has to re-pay?"
